Derek Watts won the Special B Level tournament at Middlesbrough by winning 3 of his 4 games, one of which included a triple peel.

John Moore continues to make steady progress in his recovery from his liver transplant. He has taken loan of a set of balls to knock around his garden to build up his stamina in readiness for his comeback!

--------------------------------------

We are holding a "come and try it" day this coming Saturday 5th May from 1pm at Exhibition Park.  Come along and meet our croquet players and get an insight into our popular sport,  they will pass on their skills and encouragement for you to be able to hit balls, run hoops and generally have some fun - you never know - you could be the next budding world champion!

-------------------------------

Our season will commence on Saturday 21st April at 2pm so lets hope the weather stays dry for us.

........................................

Jacob Carr retained the GC's Rowell Cup at Ripon last weekend - this is his fifth time in a row, amazing start to his season!

....................................

A Fun Day of Croquet took place at Nuns Moor on Saturday 25th February and £132 was raised for the Liver Transplant Unit, Freeman Hospital. There was some excellent fun games including Pirates, Ghosts, Croquet Football, Table Croquet and other interesting fun games! A bonus for those attending was the appearance of John Moore who had recently received a new liver at the hospital. We hope John continues in his recovery and he promised to play sometime this season. Thanks to Joan & Peter Miller for arranging this event.

-------------------------------------

Following our AGM on Sunday 19th February, Alison Heywood-Hill is our new Chairwoman and Derek Trotman has returned to the Committee. The new committee's main objective is to urgently negotiate with the local council to obtain a suitable lease agreement for Exibition Park.  Our green at Nuns Moor is under consideration for closure but we will make all efforts to negotiate a suitable outcome to suit us.

--------------------------------------------

In common with many local council maintained croquet clubs, we are now subject to council cutbacks and our lawns maintenance schedule is to be reviewed. We are currently in consultation with Newcastle Leisure Services and await the outcome with anticipation!

-------------------------------

John Moore has had a liver transplant after a long wait and is now home and on the way to recovery. We all wish him well.

We now are trying out an online lawns booking service for Nuns Moor over the winter sessions. This will be amended as found necessary and members can see the booking sheet by clicking on the link at the very bottom of this page.

Currently, club sessions for GC is played Thursday and Saturday afternoons and AC is on Tuesday afternoon. Belsay Hall CC are using the lawns on Monday afternoons. All sessions are from 12 noon until dusk.

Tyneside Croquet Club was established in 1983 and is at home in Exhibition Park and also Nuns Moor Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. (See Photo Gallery for directions to Exhibition Park.)

Newcastle is easily reached by good road, rail and air links from any part of the country and the club is situated within Exhibition Park on the northwest edge of the city centre.

With a membership of over 40, two courts (ex bowling greens) in Exhibition Park and 1 court (ex bowling green) at Nuns Moor Park, substantial pavilions, situated in major city parks, we are in an enviable stuation for a croquet club.

The Croquet Association (CA) is croquet's governing body of which we are a member club and we are also affiliated to its regional federation Croquet North (CN).

We play Association and Golf Croquet and have fixed allocated club days and evening sessions, hold coaching sessions and club championships.

We would consider any corporate visit to the club, when we could provide supervised games and refreshments -
